Patrick Lutz

Patrick Lutz is responsible for leading the team of auditors based in Frankfurt, Dubai, Moscow, Johannesburg, Hong Kong and Miami. Additionally, he is responsible for the overall development of the audit programs served by AQS, such as IOSA Standard. In addition to these managerial tasks he frequently acts as IOSA Auditor and as an IATA accepted trainer for IOSA auditor trainings (IAT). Before joining AQS, Patrick gained more than a decade of experience in senior management positions within commercial airlines to include responsibility for Quality Management, Safety Management, Security Management and Corporate Communications. Patrick is fluent in German and English and speaks basic Spanish.

Stefany Trombi
Senior Lead Auditor

Besides being a Senior Lead Auditor and Evaluator since 2006, Stefany Trombi is now also supporting the trainer team in the area of the IOSA programme. Born in Australia (of Italian heritage) and living in Austria since 1999, Stefany is a real expert in culture assimilation. Her background in the aviation world includes 22 years of ground, cargo, security, safety & quality operations as well as holding management positions and finally working for the Corporate QA department of a leading European airline as a Senior Auditor. Stefany is fluent in English and Italian, with intermediate German language skills.

Henrik Baark
Senior Lead Auditor

Henrik Baark has been working in the Aviation Quality Services team since 2010. In January 2011, he joined the IOSA auditor and trainer team. He is a selfemployed lawyer in the aviation industry and an active Quality Manager for a German airline. Throughout his aviation career he implemented management systems, quality assurance programmes and was responsible for several legal projects, such as sale & leaseback transactions of aircrafts. Henrik is fluent in English and German.

James Toye
Lead Auditor

James Toye supports the team of Aviation Quality Services as an IOSA Auditor and Trainer. He brings along more than 20 years of aviation experience applied across many disciplines including aviation management, designing of systems, manuals and procedures, training and checking, aviation compliance and quality. James is working as an active pilot on A340 and A330, is fluent in English and lives in Hong Kong.

Gilles Savary
SMS and FRM Trainer
Consultant

Gilles Savary joined the AQS trainer and consultant team in 2008. His work experience ranges from aeronautical engineering to flight operations, including training, management as well as safety and quality for European airlines. He is our expert in the area of Fatigue Risk Management and Safety Management System. Gilles is fluent in English, French, German and Portuguese.

Pablo Sassi

Pablo Sassi has successfully conducted our first Spanish language Aviation Auditor Training in 2013 in Miami. His background in the aviation world includes more than 15 years of auditing and training as well as consulting  experience in the area of quality and safety systems. He started his cooperation with Aviation Quality Services in 2011 by supporting our team as an IOSA Auditor. Pablo is fluent in Spanish and English.

Cpt. Dr. Jochen Mickel
SMS Consultant
Trainer

Dr. Jochen Mickel became a member of the Aviation Quality Services SMS expert team in 2009. His experience in flight operations, apart of active jet flying, includes hands on flight safety work in a major airline for more than 15 years. He participated in the development and implementation of all SMS components including safety risk management and safety assurance as well as safety promotion. His academic research covers Flight Data Monitoring, safety culture, and risk assessment.

Peter Gunner

Peter Gunner joined AQS following a career of 42 years in commercial aviation working for 3 major airlines, operating in 3 differing geographical regions, with 3 different cultural norms operating under 3 different aviation regulatory systems. Areas of expertise include operations control, flight despatch, load control, aircraft dispatch, emergence response centre development & management and flight operations standards & quality management. Later he was responsible for the development training and running of a consolidated port audit programme for CGO GRH and SEC as a precursor to ISAGO. Peter has 30 years experience as instructor and is an English native speaker.

Héctor David Hidalgo Medellin

Héctor Hidalgo is one of our experts in the area of Safety Management Systems. He is fluent in Spanish and English and is our face to the customer in the Latin American region. Héctor holds a professional degree as an Aeronautical Engineer, an Executive Master degree in Business Administration and is owner of a program certificate in Aviation Safety and Security. Up to now he has gained several years of Aviation Safety experience and managed his current company through the SMS implementation process up to the approval of the local aviation authority.

Capt. Max Butter
SMS Developer
Trainer

Max Butter joined the Aviation Quality Services team in 2010. He is an active pilot in a major airline, where he has gained relevant experiences in flight safety, especially in flight data monitoring and investigations for more than 10 years. In addition, Max Butter participated in the development of safety performance indicators for Safety Management Systems (SMS). His academic research covers Flight Data Monitoring, safety performance indicators and risk assessment. He is fluent in German and English.

Sebastian Sieberichs
SMS and FRM Trainer

Since November 2015, Sebastian is part of our AQS trainer team. He is First Officer and Synthetic Flight Instructor (SFI) of the A320. Besides his flying background, he has major expertise in the area of Safety and Fatigue as member of the Flight Safety Department of a German airline. Currently, he is responsible for the implementation of a functioning Fatigue Risk Management System within the company. Moreover, Sebastian holds a degree in psychology.

Stephan Weber
SMS Developer
Trainer

Stephan Weber joined the Aviation Quality Services SMS Expert Team in 2010. His flight operation experience covers 11 years of active jet flying and 5 years as a member of the flight safety department. He has taken and continues to take part in the development and implementation of the SMS. Besides flying he has studied Economics at the Goethe University and holds a Master of Science in Management. In his Master Thesis, he analyses the risk assessment of the flight operations of a major airline.

Cpt. Roman Füngerlings
FRM Developer
Trainer

Roman Füngerlings became a member of the Aviation Quality Services FRM expert team in 2012. He has implemented a Safety Management System in a German Airline, and apart from active jet flying, he works as Safety Manager in this company. He has gained hands on experience in flight safety work and Fatigue Risk Management (FRM). Roman started his aviation career in 2002 and is fluent in English and German.

Cpt. Ernest Wessman, M.Sc.
Trainer

Ernest Wessman joined the Aviation Quality Services team in 2011. In addition to being Captain on the MD-80, he has extensive experience in general aviation, business aviation, and flight instruction. His aviation career includes the positions of Auditor, Quality Manager, Accountable Manager and Nominated Postholder Flight Operations, as well as line pilot in various airlines. Ernest holds a Master of Science degree in Industrial Engineering and Management and has a background in international project management and quality management system implementation.
